Anyone know anything to do in Vegas? (With kids, G rated, etc.)

We are in Vegas recouperating today from our Lake Mohave experience. Last night we went to Macaroni Grill for the whole thing where they sing Happy Birthday in Opera style for Drake's 13th. He was so embarrased he was going to die until she actually started singing, and then he was pretty impressed. Mostly he is excited that we don't get to call him a preteen anymore. Actually I still will when I feel like irritating him, which is a lot.

So the kids mostly want to watch the Olympics and laze around the hotel today recouperating from waterskiing, and Slade is down with that. He can seriously sleep around the clock if he wanted to I am pretty jealous. But I'd like to find something to do. Slade does want to go out with only me to some type of show.

Hi Carol,

I just found your blog from Lara and Melba. It's so nice to see you again (well, on a blog that is)! The first thing I remembered about you is that I used to call you Carol Polygamy (polly-gamy). Why? Beats the heck out of me. The shark exhibit in LV is interesting, oh and put dark sunglasses on your kids when going down the strip. And please post more pics of your cute kids,
Malia

Hmm..this may be too late, I don't know if you are still in Vegas..but I think they have Body World there..? Or is it body works..I dunno. The displays they have of human anatomy are pretty amazing I've heard..

The Blue Man Group is AMAZING to see - great for kids and adults, but pretty spendy.

Also, the Stratosphere is a fun place to eat - not too expensive, surprizingly (we ate there for breakfast a few years ago with the Hickses). It is one of those places that has a rotating restaurant at the top so you see the whole city in one hour. Also has a ride at the top of the building.

Since Slade is an engineering genius, maybe Hoover dam?

Also, there is some place in Lost Wages, Nevada that is sort of a wind tunnel thing that simulates sky diving without the danger of possible tragic death at the bottom. I heard about it recently, but that's all I know, sorry, don't know the name of it.

There is a cool rollercoaster ride at New York, New York.

We saw "Phantom" at the Venetian last summer on our way to visit J P in L A, and it was fabulous.

Alexys was there recently for a three day weekend with one of her girlfriends - you might want to call her - (801) 360 - 2022.

Have fun!

If you are going north by way of I-15 at any kind of reasonable hour any time soon, feel free to stop in and see our new house 740 N 700 W, you know the city, right?. New carpet is going in today, so there isn't much furniture, but it would be great to have you stop by if you can. If not, no worries.

I liked shark reef in Las Vegas, but I can't remember how expensive it was. Next best thing was the huge fish tank that one of the hotels has for free. Mostly I like to go shop at World Market, and a big bookstore before they finally got one here.

Thanks for the suggestions (esp Malia, we should talk!) we ended up doinga mishmash of free things on the strip a couple buffets and a show. Pretty ok considering it was 110 degrees. yikes.

And unfortunately we couldn't get one of those cool strip hotels because of you know who...

Carol,

You should come on over to Facebook. We communicate mostly on that site.
