Johnny Mac's running mate?

Here's your chance to guess McCain's veep before he announces it.

There was speculation that he is going to run with that Governor of Florida which was why he had photo ops with him recently. But I think that would be a bad move, it would make him look like the second fiddle. That tall, tanned attractive guy makes white boring McCain look like a stick of spearamint gum.

Funny about the spearamint gum. I think I would even make him look white, and that's darn near impossible.

As for veep, it will be interesting to see. Bro Romney is stumping for him now, and Johnny Mac could definitely use a boost on the core conservo side.

Yeah, where is Newt Gingrich when you need him???

Talk about another whitey whiteboy. Too bad he's kind of a creep. Why do genius and no skeletons in the closet so seldom go together?

My husband is probably the only one. Good luck getting them to dig something up on him.

Your husband is truly amazing, but jph2 and jph3 are definitely in the sqeaky clean camp, too.

We should give kudos to all the men in our family who have led decent, honorable lives of integrity. Anne, who is not a member, as you know, has often commented to me about how much she admires the Mormon men she has met. She often tells me how impressed she is with them - that they are wonderful, sweet and righteous and she loves coming to visit in Utah for many reasons, not the least of which is hangin out with such good guys.

Seriously, tho, It must be hard to be a candidate these days, when the media can dig up even the tiniest bit of dirt.

Not like the good ole days when JFK was having hookers brought into the White House for him and the press just winked at him and kept it hush-hush!!

Yeah it is amazing that someone like Slade could have made it nearly fourty years now without touching a beer, more than one woman (literally, I am all, folks) or even saying one of the big bad words. Clearly the religion, combined of course with his character and ability to follow through, can take at least part of the credit.

Of course I am not knocking anyone else. I think all of the men I am related to are amazing. I just try to pay special tribute to Slade in any way that I can because he is so valliant in having to live and deal with me. He didn't marry one of those women guaranteed to keep his affairs in order. He is willing to deal with his affairs being not in order because he saw something in me that given time might be worth the sacrifice. He feels that given a chance I might change the world one day, and has been egging me on in my recovery because he expects me to get a move on with it.

I myself DID marry soeone who WILL keep my affairs in order, which in some ways is scary. Because if you marry someone just for their filing or skills at laundry, changing the world is up to you.

Also one reason that I have thought of Slade is that he is an amazing public speaker. He spoke in sacrament meeting the other day and it was quite something to behold. He is no Mitt Romney. He is OOZING with personality. He had them laughing one second and crying the next.

And they say Sacrament meeting is not like open mike day at a stand-up comedy joint. But I strongly disagree. It is one of the best ways to soften someone's heart so that your message gets through. His topic was love (it was around V-Day) and he mentioned how much he had loved the kids he had taught over the years (he has been tapped for his good sense of humor to reach teenagers) and we had people from age 10 to age 30 coming up to him and giving him notes and letters for the past two weeks.

And politics is another issue. He can do the same with ideological issues. He can whomp any of the Republican candidates in the arena of inspiring speech giving. I am actually trying to convince him to start runing for local office here pretty soon. There are some downsides of us having to stay in the area but the upside is that he will actually have a good base for drawing on if he does run. Everybody in this town knows him and loves him, and he hasn't made ANY enemies. It would have to say much more about the other person if he had.

SO I wasn't comparing his character to anyone elses IN ISOLATION--I was actually referring to the chance that I think her really does have in politics. Plus the fact that he will only get more and more good looking over the next twenty years, darn him.
